Hey, what a great story. I can’t how count many times during our expat postings that we came across smart, ambitious folks who had risked it all to move to a foreign land to help make a better life for themselves and their families back home. Sometimes they supported an entire village! We exist so far removed from this kind of dutiful experience. Matilda’s story is both a tribute to immigrants and to the resourcefulness of women. Perhaps they would do a better job running things, huh.

What an interesting story! I had no idea this is how hair salons got their start. Harper was definitely a pioneer in the women’s business movement. Hopefully, women decided to cut off some of that awful length shortly thereafter!
